New distribution deal signed
Efekto

MayFord has signed a distribution deal with Efekto

For some years now, MayFord has distributed its consumer products through a network of franchisee holders in specific geographic regions throughout South Africa. This network was especially important for MayFord’s professional bulk vegetable division which relies quite heavily on local farming communities, but fragmented its strengths from a national consumer brand perspective.

During the past five years, several of MayFord’s franchisees have sought to restructure their businesses, with Spoedwel being the latest area to be handed back to MayFord with effect from May 1, 2010. In addition, A Ford in the Western Cape signalled a desire to separate their bulk vegetable and consumer activities, and this spearheaded a search for an effective national distributor to service the areas MayFord currently handles directly.

MayFord is therefore delighted to announce that it has concluded a distribution agreement with Efekto, one of the most respected, leading distributors in the green industry. Efekto has dominated the home and garden market with its excellent brands and service culture over the past 36 years, and its national footprint will add tremendous value to MayFord.

With the exception of KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape managed by longstanding and loyal franchisee holders McDonalds Seeds, Seedplan & HAL Fennell, Efekto will take over distribution of MayFord’s consumer products in all other areas of South Africa, with effect from May 1, 2010. MayFord remains the brand owner and manager, and its national and regional marketing and advertising efforts will continue unabated.

What is Life is a Garden?

The Life is a Garden campaign was launched in August 2008 by the South African Nursery Association to promote gardening as a leisure time hobby.

The campaign provides gardening features and pictures to the media to assist with the promotion of gardening and organises regional promotions in local garden centres.

As the marketing arm of SANA, Life is a Garden also facilitates and supports the Water Wise campaigns with Rand Water and the Plant Me Instead campaign with Working for Water Nurseries Partnership Programme.
