'Herbs for your Lifestyle' is the theme of this year’s Herb Happening hosted by the Herb Association of South Africa. Taking place from April 16-18 at Doonholm Herb Farm, the 2010 Herb Happening will be showcasing how herbs can be used to benefit you in every part of your daily lifestyle.
The gardens include the Spiral Herb Garden - a labyrinth of herbs, the Monastic Garden, the African Medicinal Herb Garden, the Patio Herb Garden, and various companion planted food and herb gardens.
Each year HAOSA endeavours to provide a new and different aspect to the gardens and for the 2010 Herb Happening there will be a series of new kitchen gardens that will focus on specific ‘flavours in herbs’, such as spicy and pungent herbs, liquorice and anise flavoured herbs, savoury flavoured herbs and lemon/citrus flavoured herbs
Also new this year will be a ‘Square Foot’ Food Garden – a different concept of vegetable gardening where only a ‘square foot’ per vegetable is planted.
There will be a dedicated Herbal Products Pavilion featuring a host of exhibitors who will display their products for sale, such as herbal creams, essential oils, preserves, herb seeds, & medicinal products, and crafts.
